About Blended Learning
Blended Learning usually refers to a combination of delivery methods, including face-to-face classroom, web-conferencing, e-learning, coaching, and social media. Because people learn in many different ways, the use of blended learning provides an ability to offer a wide variety of learning assignments and activities through the combination of technology, instructor, and peer-to-peer interaction. Training research has demonstrated that a blended learning approach with specific follow-up activities results in significant increases in learning retention and learning transfer.
A typical example of blended learning includes a combination of technology-based materials and face-to-face sessions used together to present content. An instructor might begin a course with traditional classroom instruction and then proceed with follow-up materials online. Blended learning can also include the integration of e-learning using a content management system such as NetSpeed Fast Tracks, along with face-to-face or facilitated webinar instruction.
